It has become a pattern over the past many years of packing up and pushing ourselves across the states to the starting line of our vacations. Most of the time we would have it no other way. Stopping into small towns like St. Joseph, Minnesota, driving through the prairies and barren plateau regions of North Dakota and South Dakota can be a delightful and charming way to break up the dullness and boredom of the repetitive route we are accustomed to traveling. Sooner or later we arrive and the adventure begins.
On this trip we decided to explore the areas of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Montana, The Greater Yellowstone Area and lastly South Dakota. The weather was all over the place. One day we experienced all four seasons in a twenty-four hour period. Waking up to rain eventually changing to snow that would clear up to a warm sunny afternoon just before the cool dark sky became a remarkable sunset. The wildlife was entertaining and for the most part, full of energy. Green was the color of the trip as the natural world appeared to be so healthy. Just being out in these alluring areas with friends and family brought a great sense of peace and tranquility in an almost therapeutic way.
